How did this submarine movie turn out so unseaworthy?. A modest thriller propelled by a strong cast and straightforward storytelling.. The excellent performances by the cast are also what raise this movie well above your ordinary action movie.. It's all done with care and authentic Japanese locations ... But there's scant drama.. Regrettably, "Emperor" does not match MacArthur's vigor, or mine his legacy. Instead, the movie is Fellers' tale and dryly told.. A methodical but dull fact-based drama...
